If you follow me on Instagram you know that I have a thing for magazines. I always did (for the French speakers do you remember 20 ans? – yes I’m going wayyy back), and even though I’m also reading few of them online like most of us nowadays nothing beats the feeling of holding a beautiful magazine in my hands.
At the beginning of the summer I discovered The Gentlewoman, an absolutely amazing biannual magazine celebrating women : “(The Gentlewoman) offers a fresh and intelligent perspective on fashion that’s focused on personal style – the way women actually look, think and dress. Featuring ambitious journalism and photography of the highest quality, it showcases inspirational women through its distinctive combination of glamour, personality and warmth.”.
More than being a fabulous aesthetic “object”, the magazine features in-depth articles and portraits (yes there is plenty to read) alongside impressive editorials and photographies. Unlike many so-called women magazines, which the only (barely hidden) goal is to push women to consumption, The Gentlewoman makes you think and truly inspires you. The kind of magazine that belongs to your book shelf.
