Where is the cool this week?, is going to be a new type of post on The Bubblist. From time to time,I’m going to ask personalities to take random snapshots of their environment , showing us where, who and what was “making” the cool that week. They idea is to communicate with pictures, and share their taste and point of view with the viewer in a refreshing and arty way. I’m not trying to reduce the importance of the content here, but also showing that in the 2.0 era, art can be approach in a cool and easy way without removing from it any complexity.
Our very first guest that agreed to comply to this exercice, is the Telavivian based artist GUY YANAI. With the Fresh Paint and a brand new exhibition coming in Danemark, let’s say that Yanai is a really busy man,but still willing to share with us THE place where for him the cool was this week and why. And lucky as we are, he is sharing with us some exclusive pieces that will be feature in his upcoming show.
I had the chance to visit his very downtown Tel Aviv studio once, and it’s quiet easy to believe that among the colourful paintings, the pop paint tube, the cool visual inspiration pictures on the walls, and the spiny cactus on the egde of his windows, the cool was there this week.
“This is where I spend my time. This is where I experience Tel Aviv from, and I only want to paint from here. This is where the texture of the city gets re -edited into art. This is the cool spot. This is everything for me, my universe. This is where i translate everything into something meaningful”
