I met Danielle in Tel Aviv during the summer 2010, and during theses few years we build a long distance friendship sharing both an unrestricted love for Art under all its forms. I like to think of her as my hot version of the Oh So Cool Lena Dunham, for her awareness of the environment she is living in, her writing skills, her trendy New-York touch and above all her witty sense of humor. She will be our New-York insider for the blog, bringing us more art, more talents, exhibitions views, trends, pieces of her daily life in the city that never sleep. I don’t know about you but I’m pretty enthusiast about that girl !

My name is Danielle Kaye and I am an actress, student, writer, and aspiring filmmaker living in downtown Manhattan. In the summer of 2011, I moved from Tel-Aviv to New York City to pursue acting. In 2012, I landed my first role in an independent feature length film, “The Caretaker” which will be premiering this summer at the Long Island Film Festival. After wrapping “Caretaker” I decided I wanted to take classes to study acting for the camera. I went on to study acting for film and television at the Stella Adler Studio of Acting in January 2013. Before beginning school I was admitted into the actor’s union, SAG-AFTRA (The Screen Actors Guild-American Federation of Television and Radio Artists). I simultaneously took my sister’s advice and I auditioned for The Barrow Group, a non-profit Off-Broadway Theatre Company, Acting School and Arts Center located in downtown Manhattan. There, just a few blocks from Penn Station, I have found myself a home-away-from-home.

I now train with Seth Barrish, co-founder and teacher at The Barrow Group. I am also currently working on 2 separate projects: I just finished writing my first short film, now in it’s final stages of editing. It is a love story and personal homage to
German Filmmaker Tom Tykwer. In addition to writing and producing my short, I am trying to help produce a friend’s feature length film that focuses on Jewish and Israeli-American themes.

Last month, I moved to Greenwich Village i.e. “The Village” and I’m feeling more intune with the intellect, art, celebration and spontaneity of the neighborhood. Each day is precious; every day is challenging, and all day I get inspired.I live in the most
inspiring city in the world and for that I’m very thankful. See you all soon,

Dani
